Miles Ahead began in 1992 when Miles McPherson started an organization called Project Intercept. Its mission was to "educate, liberate and motivate" the youth of America by conducting inspirational high school assemblies and developing mentor programs for at-risk youth in the greater San Diego area.
Less than three years later, it was renamed Miles Ahead - with the mission and mandate to present the good news to young people everywhere and to lead one million people to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. The formula for success? Massive stadiums, pumping music, extreme sports, family and kid zones, and the message of Jesus Christ.
In 2008, Miles Ahead launched a ministry week precluding each festival which serves as a tool to meet the community's physical needs. To love in deed and in truth is the goal of ministry week. And to implement sustainable solutions with lasting benefits. All in the name of God's love.
Over the years, Miles Ahead has enabled Miles McPherson and a volunteer team to extend the church beyond its four walls; to penetrate uncommon environments where young people are found. McPherson has traveled across America speaking in various places from high schools to sports arenas. He has appeared on national television and radio programs including Good Morning America, Larry King Live, FOX News, Focus on the Family, MTV, and Special Town Meeting with Peter Jennings. With his humorous yet bold, down-to-earth style, McPherson has been uniquely gifted and called by God as a transformation evangelist.
